After purchasing a HP DV-1224 laptop relatively 2 years ago for around $500 at my local Best Buy and being utterly mortified after one year of use. I decided to make a true investment in a laptop which was reliable, sturdy and was able to give me a surreal usage experience. I decided after months of deliberation and second guessing myself, to cough up the $1200 dollars and invest in a Macbook Pro which boasts superior innovation and attractiveness to its competitors.
I purchased my laptop as a Christmas present to myself and have not for a second regretted my purchase (well despite Apple releasing its new model of the MacBook Pro February of 2011 with little warning). I’m currently in graduate school so not only did I need a laptop to visit my favorite social sites: facebook, twitter, linkedIn, etc. and surf the web without having to constantly worry about viruses. I needed something that could run all day but was also reliable enough to withstand the over night papers and assignments.
It was definitely a transition to relearn all of the short cuts and functions but it has definitely been worth it. The aluminum body is very sturdy, it never overheats, (a huge problem with my previous laptop; although I plan to invest in a cooling fan) and its light weight so that it could be transported anywhere. Lastly I just enjoy people recognizing that your one of Apple’s loyal customers, it comes with a certain feeling of prestige.
Customer Service has been exceptional very professional and accessories are on the expensive side (So you want to make sure to protect your power cord etc.) but you know your receiving quality merchandise that is going to last. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase. So count me as one of Apple’s new lifetime members. The Apple Macbook Pro is my favorite laptop and I can not find one reason for which I would every go back to a windows based PC, so if I have spent an extra couple of dollars, its a extra dollar well spent.
