Avoiding heat exhaustion can be easy enough for someone who holds the ability to stay out of the heat, but not everyone holds such a luxury. Anyone who has to work out in the high heat runs the risk of suffering from heat exhaustion by sweating out those valuable electrolytes, so preparing for a hot summer day’s worth of work is the key to prevention. Here are 5 things a person can do to prevent heat exhaustion:

Stay hydrated with drinks rich in electrolytes. Green tea and Gatorade are drinks rich in electrolytes that can help a person stay cool in scorching hot weather. A person can easily stay hydrated with the electrolyte freezer pops that come available for pediatric or adult use. Just toss a freezer pop in the freezer and enjoy the freezer pop once it freezes. They taste like the regular freezer pops. Don’t have a place to keep them frozen while you’re working? Don’t worry. You can just open one up and drink the liquid. The liquid tastes like fruit punch.

Eat foods rich in electrolytes. It’s easy to run out and get a burger, but why not eat a snack or meal that contains electrolytes? Top off cotton clothing with a hat or a cap for shading the face and seek shade whenever you can for a short rest and a sip of a cool beverage.
