Full Vs. Liability Coverage

Automobile coverage is a requirement to drive. If you are a driver who needs insurance, there are some things you need to know when choosing the best coverage for you and for your vehicle.

The age and condition of your vehicle should be a consideration. Older cars do not always receive the full coverage benefits. There are many reasons why, including price and condition.

Liability and full coverage are the two main categories offered, and there are things you should know about both options before you decide. You can switch from liability to full coverage.

Which will you choose?

Full coverage is the best choice for car owners. It will replace your vehicle if it becomes totaled in an accident. This will come in handy, especially when you are lacking in funds. This coverage will cover just about anything. Full coverage pays for car repairs involving an accident or from vandalism. If you ran over a nail and need a new tire, this will be an out-of-pocket expense.

Liability is limited and cheaper. Drivers opt for this choice because of the price, and they may not care about their junk vehicles. Even though it is cheaper, it may not be in your best interest. This doesn’t cover for damages to vehicles. Classic car owners shouldn’t choose this option.

Did you know some or all insurance companies will pay to have a windshield replaced? However, if your policy is liability only, then you’re out of luck. Trust me, I know from personal experience. I have had two windshields replaced in the last two years, and I only have liability coverage. The cost of two windshields is not cheap. If only I had the full coverage, it wouldn’t have cost me anything.

Companies have an age cutoff. For example, if the car is older than 1985 and their cut off is 1986, they will not give you coverage. It may not seem right, but it does happen.

When you are looking for car coverage, there are things you need to know about. Do your homework before deciding. It is in your best interest to do so. Budget plays a big factor in what insurance coverage you decide to purchase.
