Free Thanksgiving Dinner Event at the Rock Community Christian Church in Detroit

1000 members of the community will be fed free Thanksgiving dinner on November 24 from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at The Rock Community Christian Church in Detroit. The event, organized by the church and helped by sponsors, is called OPERATION: FEED THE MULTITUDE.

“In these difficult times for our community, we would like to help as many people as possible”, said Sarah Johnson, Event Coordinator. “Dinner will be free for all who show up: people who are less fortunate than us and people who would be willing to share this wonderful holiday’s spirit with us. Our intention is the event to bring together people from all walks of life and consolidate them as a community, no matter what their social status is.”

The organizers also say they would appreciate if people who wanted to attend let them know in advance on (313) 681-5465 or (248)991-5560 or e-mail [email protected]. They are still accepting donations and are looking for volunteers, organizations, and businesses willing to invest time, money, or product to the program.

“The next thing we are planning is to give a family everything they need for Christmas. The best time, we thought, to ask people to nominate a potential family would be on Thanksgiving”, added Mrs. Johnson.

The location of the event is: The Rock Community Christian Church, 13100 Puritan Ave., Detroit, MI 48227. Date and time: Thursday, November 24, 2011, 12:00pm-4:00pm.
