Five Ways to Ensure that You Don’t Lose Money on a Winter Wedding

If you are planning a winter wedding, you may think you have covered everything, but if it is a winter wedding there is more that you should be concerned about. There are however a few things that you will want to be prepared for just in case. Below you will find five ways that will help to ensure that you don’t lose any money on your big day. It’s ok if you have to reschedule the wedding but losing some of your budget can be even worse.

All in the contract

Most venues such as the location where you will be holding your reception will have clauses built into the contract on what happens if the weather is bad. If you don’t see this type of clause in your contract you can always ask to put one into the contract. If a particular location does not want to do this, then you may want to think twice before using this location. Remember that you are planning a wedding during a time of year where most places have snow storms. You should also have the same type of contract for any car rental service that you will be using as well.

Have an alternate date

It only makes sense to have a back up date during the winter months. Let each of your venues know your back up date due to inclement weather. Remember that if the winter is really bad you may need to choose a day at the end of the season. It may not be the winter scene you wanted but it would be a lot better than losing your money.

Have everything in one location

You can also focus on having everything in one location so that you don’t have to worry about travel. This way you will not have to worry about traveling from one location to another. If you have your wedding, and your reception in one area, this will make things go a lot smoother.

Keep it simple

Focus on keeping things as simple as possible during the winter months. Remember that there are some things you may not be able to get. For example if there is a certain type of food you want at your wedding, it may be too difficult to get. Keeping your choices limited to what is in season will make it a lot easier.

Check the heating system

It is winter time, so you will want to make sure that wherever you plan to have your wedding also has plenty of heat. One thing you don’t want is for your guest to be cold and uncomfortable during what should be a happy occasion. Be sure to get in writing any information you can about the heating system being turned on at least a few hours before the wedding to make sure it is nice and warm when you arrive.
