Have you found yourself stuck in “S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat” trying to find those Fine Tools for the technicians at Yanov and Zaton? Well this quick guide will walk you through the steps for getting the Fine Tools for making more advanced modifications to your equipment and weapons.
Two Sets Of Fine Tools
There are three categories of tools: Basic Tools, Fine Tools and Calibration Tools. Each of these tools have two different sets in two different locations. Sound confusing? Not really because there are two technicians in the game that can make use of the tools, Cardan at the Skadovsk barge in Zaton and Nitro at the hold-up in Yanov station.
Both Cardan and Nitro have different approaches to repairing and upgrading items and to be honest, you’ll get more and better upgrades from Cardan at the barge in Zaton, however, you’ll have to get him drunk each time before you can perform the upgrades.
Nitro, alternatively, offers convenient upgrades, however there are some third-tier upgrades he’s not able to perform especially on high grade armor and weapons.
When you acquire the toolkits you can choose to give them to either Nitro or Cardan depending on who you talk to.
Fine Tools At The Workshop In Zaton
There is only one set of Fine Tools in Zaton and they are located in a mercenary camp located at the substation workshops. You won’t be able to simply walk into the workshop and pick up the tools, though. There are active, well-armed mercenaries patrolling the area and they will be hostile unless you bring them some food and supplies. You can either choose to bring them the equipment and they will let you pass through for free or you can choose to trespass and engage in a firefight.
If you choose to engage them in a firefight be sure to bring some other stalkers along with you to offer a helping hand during combat. You’ll need it.
Whether you choose to go in hostile or friendly the tools are located in the very back of the substations on the right-hand side. They are on top of a crate – if you decided to go in friendly the tools will be located directly next to a mercenary sitting on a box. Simply hop up and grab the tools from the box.
Fine Tools At The Jupiter Plant In Yanov
The second set of Fine Tools is located in Yanov. You’ll find the kit at the far south end of the map located at the Jupiter plant. In order to get there you’ll need to go past the Concrete Bath anomaly and follow it up to the elevated warehouse area next to the aqueduct, directly on the side of the Jupiter plant. There will be a number of crates and a few sheds in the area, along with one major warehouse in the center of the yard. The toolkit is located inside this warehouse.
Inside the warehouse is an electrical anomaly field. You’ll need some serious protection against electrical anomalies otherwise you’ll die very fast. Also, you’ll need a Veles or prototype anomaly detector if you plan on getting through the area alive.
Head inside the warehouse and go upstairs, you’ll find that the area is really small and will require you to duck low to get through or past the pipes. One pipe is especially low and you’ll need to duck and walk through in order to get past it. The Fine Tools kit is located at the far end of the room inside of a cabinet. Collect them and then head out of the side of the door to avoid having to go back through the electric anomaly.
That’s it, you’re done. It would probably be wise to give the first Fine Tools to Nitro and after upgrading a lot of your equipment giving the second toolkit from the Jupiter plant to Cardan.
