Cowabungas in Hooksett, NH: an Indoor Playground Review

I have three boys ages 6, 3 and half and 11 months. My oldest son is incredibly active and absolutely loves bounce houses so when I heard that Cowabunga’s in Hooksett, NH had opened, I waited for a day that he had off of school and we were there!

Upon entrance, I noticed this venue’s size. I was pleased with the room provided. I felt that my boys could run around in their excitement and not collide with another individual. Right as you walk in, you approach the front desk where you pay. Shoes come off (and the floors were clean). There are tables in this area where you can have a snack or lunch (a vending machine with some snack choices is available – this is a nut-free facility) and a few arcade-type games that you can pay to play. Then there are the bounce houses! You’ve got your typical bounce house where you climb in and jump around. Balls were in this house as well. All three of my children were able to enjoy this time together – my two older boys were bouncing and throwing balls into the hoops, and my baby was sitting along the edge playing with some larger balls and giggling as I’d lightly bounce him up and down.

Beside this house there was another structure that you could climb up and slide down – a huge hit with my two older children. There was also a bounce house with a few climbing walls and slides and an area that I appreciated as a mom of a younger child: the bike area. This was an enclosed area with some tricycles and a bike riding track as well as some bouncing balls. As with the simple bounce house, all three of my boys had fun here which is always a plus in my book. Moving along, Cowabunag’s even had another area with black lights. There was a t-ball station and another climb-and-slide bounce house, all with a darker ambiance for the light effects.

My six-year-old often lasts an hour, maybe a bit more, and then claims that he is bored with many venues that don’t offer enough for his energetic personality. We lasted a few hours at Cowabunga’s and only left because my baby was in desperate need of a nap and my three-year-old was actually laying on the floor with his eyes closed. We had limited interaction with the staff, but they were quite friendly when we actually did speak with one another.

Pricing was a bit on the higher side in comparison to other local indoor playgrounds but for the fun it provided and the amount of time my family was there, it was well worth it in my opinion.

The cost is $10 per child. Children under the age of two are free and adults are free as well if paying for a child.

All-in-all, we had a wonderful time at Cowabunga’s and I would not hesitate to take my children there again.

Cowabunga’s also has a party room for birthday parties and other functions. For further information, visit their website at: www.mycowabungas.com or 603 625-8008.
