Chrysanthemum and Elderflower Tea

Chrysanthemum and elderflower tea is not simply a nice cup of special tea, it can also help alleviate the symptoms of allergies or ward of the common cold. The ingredients in this tea help reduce sweating, have anti-allergenic properties, and work to defend the body from pathogenic influences. Chrysanthemum also has the ability to help cool the body, protect against liver damage, and neutralize toxins.

Ingredients:

Water

½ tablespoon of chrysanthemum flowers

½ Tablespoon of elderflowers

½ Tablespoon of nettle leaves

½ Tablespoon of peppermint

Instructions:

Boil around one and one fourth cup of water. Use less water for a stronger tea, more for a more gentle tea.

Place all of the dry ingredients in a teapot.

Add the boiling water to the teapot and allow to steep.

Strain, serve, and enjoy your tea.

The tea can be used three to four times daily during hay fever season or while struggling with the onset of a cold. If you desire, you can prepare the dry ingredients ahead of time and store in an airtight container for use. I often keep a few of my favorite, or most helpful, tea blends stored in tins or glass jars for moments I need them most.
