‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3′ Review

Fans of the game series “Call of Duty” have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the newest title in the series, “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.” The new “COD MW3″ has some big shoes to fill. Past titles like “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” and “Call of Duty: Black Ops” were all the rage in the gaming community. Let’s explore how “COD MW3″ compares to its predecessors.

Maps

In the past, the “Call of Duty” games have had a variety of maps in varying sizes. Each map provides a very different experience for the players. For example, “Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare” has a map call “Bloc.” This map is a very large map, and is prefect for sniper rifles. “Call of Duty: Black Ops,” has a map called “Nuketown,” it is a very small map, and is what gamers call a kill box. In “Nuketown,” the game action is very fast, and while you can use a sniper rifle, it’s best to use a smaller fully automatic weapon. The new “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3″ does offer a good variety of maps, but they are all pretty much the same size. There are no real fast-paced kill boxes. All-in-all, the maps for “COD MW3″ are decent for game play, however, the overall look of the graphics could have been cleaner.

Survival mode

Many players think this is the one place the new “COD MW3″ fails in comparison. In “Call of Duty: Black Ops,” the “Zombie” survival mode was a huge hit with fans. Most players were hoping that “Zombies” would be included and extended in the newest game. However, for whatever reason it wasn’t. The new “COD MW3″ has a survival mode, but it doesn’t begin to compare to “Zombies.” It pits the players against waves of bots that vary in skill level, strength, and use varying equipment. Some fans say the new survival mode is just like playing bots on any other game, and that there is nothing special about it.

New game modes

There are some new and exciting game modes to explore on “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.” One of the new game modes is called “confirmed kill.” “Confirmed kill” plays like a regular team-death-match, but with one exception. In this mode, once a player kills an enemy or is killed there are dog-tags left near the body. In order to confirm the kill the player must collect the dog-tags before the other team collects them, or he loses the points for that kill. This game mode is great for players that hate the game campers.

All-in-all, I would say that “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3″ holds its own in comparison to the older titles in the series. There are some disappointments, but it does offer some new and exciting things for its players to master.
