Button Picture Frame

Repurpose the buttons in your button box into an eco-friendly picture frame. The variety of color, sizes and shapes of buttons make them an ideal adornment for the face of the frame. Make several in various sizes to hang or set in groupings. A button picture frame also makes an ideal whimsical gift.

Things You’ll Need:

Cereal box
Ruler
Pencil
Scissors
Tacky glue
Clippie clothespins
Buttons
18-gauge wire, 16-inches long
Wire cutter

Instructions:

Step 1 – Measure, mark and cut the cereal box into two 8-inch squares. Center, draw and cut a 4-inch square from the middle of both 8-inch squares.

Step 2 – Wrap the 16-inch long piece of 18-gauge wire around the shaft of a pencil to form a coil. Remove the coil and gently pull it apart until it is 12-inches long.

Step 3 – Place one 8-inch square on a flat work surface. Cover the surface of the square with tacky glue.

Step 4 – Straight the bottom 2-inches of each end of the coiled wire. Position the two ends approximately ½-inch in from the top corners of the cardboard to form a hanger.

Step 5 – Center the second 8-inch square over the first. Clip the two pieces of cardboard together with clippie clothespins making sure to position a clippie clothespin over each piece of flat wire. Allow the tacky glue to dry 1 hour.

Step 6 – Remove the clippie clothespins.

Step 7 – Paint the surface of the picture frame with tacky glue.

Step 8 – Cover the surface of the picture frame by placing buttons side-by-side. Allow the tacky glue to dry 1-hour.

Tape a picture or photograph in the 4-inch opening and hang.
