Being a Better Freelance Writer

With so many people out there writing articles all across the web, it can sometimes be hard to stand out. However, I believe if you write pieces that are relevant, useful and easy to read then there is nothing to stop you from being/becoming a better freelance writer.

Of course, to get to the top of your game you have to keep writing, however, you don’t just want to write about anything and everything, as this doesn’t highlight your skills and attributes. Instead, you want to write and focus around areas that you are interested in. When you write say an article based on a topic or area that you are interested, for example movies, your writing will far outshine other pieces written by authors who may just be writing for the sake of it. So, basically, to be a better writer, and a better freelance writer you have to be passionate and enthusiastic, and this has to come across in the words you write.

In addition to being passionate you must be as grammatically correct as you can be. Nobody is perfect, not even this article, however, nobody likes reading articles that have literally hundreds of spelling mistakes in them, or for example a sentence that is a paragraph long. The next point I will mention, is something that I think is important. As you probably know there are thousands upon thousands of articles out there, written by people in a language that they are perhaps not fluent or native in. The result of this is of course frustration, both from the point of the writer and the reader. So, to be a better writer, write fluently. Do not try and write an article or piece in a language that you are not fluent in, as this will lead to embarrassment, and may well even tarnish your online reputation.

Now taking more care in each piece you write and being passionate are of course two important keys to success. Another area that is worth pointing out is publication. Where you are publishing your articles/work being published? Just as there are lots of articles out there, there are also lots of sites that you can publish your articles for free on. Of course, some of these sites are better than others. In my opinion there is no point in posting the same article on say fifty of these websites, as this will do nothing but tarnish your online writer status and reputation. Try just publishing your work on a few select websites. Doing this will build up your reputation, build up your fan base and of course build up your Profile.

In short, as you can see, there is no quick fix to being a better writer, and building up your profile. Practise does of course make perfect, and getting recognised takes time and effort, however if you are prepared to put in the work and effort required the rewards of being a better writer are out there.
