However, for those who live in large cities living alone is out of the question due to the rising cost of living and thats where the thought of having a roommate comes into play. Ask Around: You never know who needs a roommate, so be sure to take the time to ask friends and have them ask their friends as well. Also be sure to ask family members if they know or have friends who are looking for a roommate.

Check out Bulletins: Sometimes in certain areas of a large city their will be bulletins placed upon a wall and often times this is one of the most common ways people find a roommate.The main place people would find bulletins looking for roommates would be at a local college, since many students are looking for someone to split the bills with while they attend school.

Join Local Clubs: Another way to find a roommate for apartment living would be to take the time to join a local club or two. Believe it or not this is how many people found their roomie and best of all they had a few things in common enough to make them get along well enough to split the bills.

Create a List: It would be best to create a list when it comes to finding someone to split the bills with such as what do each of you have in common or better yet take the time to ask each person what they like to do for fun, since you want someone that you can tolerate on some level and make life easier.

Go Over Expectations: When interviewing potential roommates make sure you go over expectations with them and make sure they understand to an in-depth level what is expected of them when it comes to cleaning and of course the bills. Also make sure to go over their expectations and see if you can find a common ground.
