All the Colors of the Rainbow

Scientists have realized that a rainbow only has seven colors. Many argue why there is only seven colors displayed. Some argue that these are the colors that make up every color scheme, while other say there is something more mysterious, such as the seven colors equal the seven continents. No one really knows, because all of these ideas are only educated guesses. However, the Native American Indians have a spiritual theory that explains everything.

The colors were once arguing over who was the most important color created by God.

Blue said, “I am the greatest color because I am the color of the sky and the sea.”

Yellow laughed and stated, “I bring laughter and happiness when I show up.”

Red became furious and yelled, “I am the color of blood and warnings. Humans listen to me when I appear.”

Green suddenly announced, “I am the color of every living plant on the Earth. Humans need me to survive because my color is what brings life.”

Indigo quietly interrupted the discussion, “Every color becomes superficial when I appear. When I appear humans reflect and think. I am the color of twilight and the deepest of waters.”

Orange began to brighten and stay, “I am the color of health, because I am the color of the healthiest vitamins, such as carrots, mangoes and pumpkins. I serve the inner body of the humans. I maybe scarce, but I am thought of as the most important.”

Purple was the last to chime in the conversation, “I am the color of royalty. Bishops, kings and world leader choose me to wear. When I am displayed humans listen to me and obey my commands.”

During the height of this argument, a loud noise was heard in the sky. Thunder and lightning began to appear. Water began to fall from the skies. Every color became fearful of the lights and noise. They took a minor position of authority and drew close to each other.

Rain yelled out loud, “You arguing children. Do you not know what you mean when you work together. God made you form the rainbow in order to tell the humans that God’s promise to them is being kept.”

The Christian Bible tells of a story of Noah, where God made it rain 40 days and 40 nights, flooding the world and destroying all life because of the world’s evil. The only ones God spared were Noah and his family. When the colors join together in the sky, it tells us that God is keeping His promise of not destroying the planet again by flood.
