A Week of Celebrity Heroes: Brad Pitt Swoops in to Pick Up Fallen Woman

This last week has been full of celebrity rescues, and the latest hero was none other than actor Brad Pitt. Pitt is in Glasgow, Scotland, filming “World War Z,” a film starring Pitt as a U.N. employee who is traveling the world to stop a Zombie pandemic.

A woman, who was one of the extras on the set, fell in the middle of a scene where a mass of people ran through George’s Square in Glasgow to get away from chasing zombies. The woman was in danger of being trampled, and Pitt rushed in, scooped her up and carried her away.

I don’t know about you, but realizing that you are suddenly in the arms of Brad Pitt might be enough to cause a heart attack. Fortunately, her only injury was a bruised knee, and possibly a bit of a shock to her psyche.

Pitt was only one of several famous heroes this week. In the world of sports, the NFL has its own hero. Baltimore Ravens wide receiver, Tandon Doss, fought off two men who attacked a restaurant manager with a knife.

Doss is a 21-year old rookie, and didn’t see his actions as heroic, but he likely stopped what could have been a horrific act of violence. One of the attackers was apparently upset at the manager for losing his job.

Doss commented, “It was two dudes on one. I was trying to help the situation out. I broke it up. I saw the guy on the ground bleeding, and I saw a guy on top hitting him.”

The victim was likely grateful that he escaped with only a minor cut. Earlier this week, billionaire CEO of the Virgin Group, Richard Branson, called Kate Winslet a hero for her efforts in rescuing his 90-year old mother from the devastating fire that destroyed his luxury island retreat.

In the wee hours of the morning on Monday, August 22, flames roared through the home on Nekker Island where Kate Winslet and her family were staying as guests. The Titanic star quickly grabbed Branson’s mother and carried her out of the house.

Branson later posted on his blog, “many thanks to Kate Winslet for helping to carry my 90 year (old) mum out of the main house to safety.”

If that isn’t enough, there was yet a fourth celebrity good Samaritan last weekend. Actor and star of “Crazy, Stupid Love”, Ryan Gosling, broke up an intense street fight in New York City between two men. Initially, a couple of bystanders were unsuccessful at stopping the altercation, when, suddenly Gosling came into the picture and took control.

One of the men was selling his paintings on the street when he accused the other man of stealing it. Gosling asked the man how much he wanted for the painting, and when he answered, “$10,” Gosling took out a 20 dollar bill and responded, ” Does this settle his debt now?”

The incident was quite impressive, and two excited women captured the whole thing on video.
