8 Awesome Winter Parenting Tips

1. Snow Sledding

Have you gone snow sledding? There may be some schools that have large hills on them. Take the family on the weekend and slide down the snowy hill.

2. Wheel Of Fortune

An indoor winter activity would include a game of Wheel of fortune. You create a wheel of different activities relating to a book that was read or to mathematical equations or words that they can give the meaning too. This can include the entire family. You will determine the questions and the type of questions for each age group. You can have select prizes for each age group. There will be enough prizes for all. So everyone will win something. This will be a win/win situation.

3. Rollerblade Skating

Rollerblade skating. This is something the entire family can do. Check with your local skating arena for family night. Take the entire family skating and enjoy pizza and lemonade. If you don’t already have skates, you can rent them at the skating arena. The skating arena will play a variety of music. You might even decide to have a skating birthday party.

4. Children’s Museum

Children’s museum offers a variety of activities for the children. The museums is very much hands on. The children can play and not worrying about breaking something. They offer various exhibits for the children. These exhibits are innovative and encourage the hands on approach. All the activities are geared to raise the children’s awareness and creativeness.

5. Uno Attack

Possibly you might prefer an inside activity such as the “Uno Attack card game” for the entire family. The children love it as much as the adults do. The game is similar to playing regular Uno cards except there is a slight twist. When you pull a card that says attack, you can pick the person you want to attack. Then that person must push the card attack button. Several cards will spill out of the unit for that person to add to the cards they are already holding. The number of cards can range from 3 to 5 cards or more. When a winner of each round is declared points are totaled from the remaining cards held by the other players. The first person to reach 500 is the winner. I find it a very amusing game to play.

6. Concentration

Concentration is another of my favorite games for children and adults. Everyone starts saying the following phrase together: “Concentration, thinking of names.” This can be changed to thinking of animals or thinking of colors. Each person needs to think and say something different. I can see why it is call concentration because you are snapping your fingers in between the phrases. For example, the lead player says “concen” ( everyone snaps their left finger then the right fingers) then the lead player says “tration” (everyone snaps their left finger then the right fingers again) the lead player says “thinking of” (everyone snaps their left fingers and then the right fingers) the lead player says “names” (everyone snaps their left fingers and then their right fingers) then the next player must say a name such as a”David”, (everyone snaps their fingers), the third player might says “Alice . They must say the name between the snaps of the fingers or they are out. They will continue until only one player is left and is declared the winner.

7. Charades

Charades is another game that I have had requests from other children to play often. They seem to really enjoy acting out the character that they are trying to display. Charades is not a new game, but a unique game in that it causes you to think. One person writes down a character that they are going to portray such as an animal. They may not talk while portraying the character. They can only act like the animal might act. Then the rest of the players must guess what character the player is attempting to portray.

8. Exercise Together

When was the last time that you exercised with your family? When it is cold outside, you can exercise inside to your favorite exercise tape. Children love this especially when they are doing it with mom and dad. My favorite exercise video tape is Cosmopolitan Tonetics Tummy-Toning Workout. This tapes helps for a flatter stomach. Children love it and so do I.

These activities should definitely keep you and your family entertained this winter. Whether you engage in a few of the activities or all of them, I am sure you and your family will enjoy them to the utmost.
