2012 Snow White Movies: Mirror, Mirror Vs Snow White and the Huntsman

The two highly anticipated Snow White movies are scheduled to be released spring of 2012. Mirror, Mirror staring Julia Roberts, Lily Collins, Armie Hammer and Nathan lane will be released on March 30 into theaters. The evil queen (Roberts) banishes Snow White (Collins) from the kingdom. Snow White meets the seven dwarfs that teach her to handle herself and she gains the courage to take back her kingdom that she is to inherit.

Those who are fans of this legendary fairytale are sure to be in for a treat with this version of the classic. This tale is full of beautiful sceneries, breathtaking costumes and colorful set designs. I am so happy this version is coming out first. I am already in suspense to see how this version of the tale unfolds. In the trailer, Julia Roberts plays an evil queen that I think I’m going to love with her humor and witty remarks. Lily Collins has been perfectly cast to play a more modern Snow White and I am sure will be quit entertaining to watch. I’m sure the kids will enjoy this movie as well as adults alike.

In theaters on June 1st, the producers of Alice in Wonderland bring you a bit of a darker version of this classic fairytale, Snow White and the Huntsman. Charlize Theron plays the evil queen who sets out to destroy Snow White played by Kristen Stewart. Chris Hemsworth who plays the huntsman trained Snow White in the art of war. And of course the legendary fairytale would not be complete without a prince charming played by Sam Claflin.

The trailer for this version of Snow White looks to be an action packed epic with some awesome visual effects. Ladies I don’t think you will have much of a problem getting your man to take you out to see this movie. There is drama for the ladies, action for the guys and adventure for everyone. I think this will be a great date night movie.

I’m usually not much of a fan when I see two movies with similar ideas released so closely together. It often seems that the different studios get lost in the competition of each other that the integrity of the movie is lacking in many ways. But I have to admit after seeing the trailers for both of these movies, I feel like there is nothing lacking in either version. And even though the basis of the movies is the same classic tale they are two very different versions of this legendary story.
