This is the first week to rank the one-loss teams in the unbiased rankings. A team is expected to win at home and almost winning on the road is better than losing at home. Arizona St, Baylor and North Carolina have close losses on the road to undefeated teams so they get ranked higher than teams also with road losses.

The other one-loss teams in the unbiased rankings have close losses on the road or at home. The ones left out have significant point spreads to their losses, whether on the road or at home. Going into the BCS rankings on Sunday, October 17th, some one-loss teams will be ranked in the polls because of biases. The only hope to really bust the BCS is if more than a few teams finish the season undefeated.
