You Were Never There

Remember when we were young and all the fun we had,

and even when we argued we were never really mad.

We used to play hop-scotch and jump rope all day long.

We were the best of friends, and nothing could go wrong.

Preschool naps to a, b, c’s writing skills and 1, 2, 3,

Then I needed glasses just to see, but you never made fun of me.

Elementary came and went we grew closer with the time we spent.

I admired your boldness, and I always knew what you said was what you ment.

Jr. High changed us a bit, but we never turned our back.

As we grew we realized the love this world does lack.

We made a promise to eachother we were freinds for life,

and we held together through every bump, every pain and strife.

Highschool years brought memories broken hearts and all.

You knew I would be right there to answer every call.

We talked about everything and nothing all the time.

We would search the entire house just to find a dime.

Graduation day finally came we waited all this long,

and we both cried the momet they played the graduation song.

Walked that stage side by side just like we did in school.

That moment we knew we conquered and one day we could rule.

Later that night we shared a dinner with your family and mine,

and passed year books to remember those who got to sign.

Then it was college with none other than you the perfect roommate.

Summer came, and we both were asked to go on a double date.

We fell in love with those two guys, and would soon both have a ring.

Our mamas cried as we tried on our gowns and picked out who would sing.

Your day was first and I told you, you were the most beautiful bride,

and I was so honored after all these years to still be by your side.

Best friends forever we always said, and it was always true.

We both watch our kids grow older just as we grew older too.

Best friends would never forget these things unless they were never true.

See all this could have happened if I ever had the chance to know you,

but do to this tragedy of the murder of infants we were never friends.

46 million lives later in america alone I was born without you.

I grew up without you, I grew old without you.

All because you didn’t get a chance at life.

I never got to share life with you.

All these memories were mine alone with you, I could not share.

I wish you could remember all this, but you were never there.
