Why Yes, I’m a Pothead..

Years of waiting, hours spent reading books and watching movies over and over has led to the ultimate fan gratification. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 2 was an amazing closure in a series that has truly captured a generation. For me, the movie was both anticipated and dreaded. I could not wait to see how they would make Harry Potter and this final movie come alive on the screen once again. However, I also knew that no more would follow, making its release a flash down Potter memory lane. Few who read the book could hardly be disappointed in the visual representation grandly shown on theatres across the nation, some even in 3D.

Immediately in the opening scene, your tears grow fresh once again at the demise of the beloved Dobby. The search for the Horcruxes distracts us for a time until we realize that this is the end of an era. Saying goodbye to characters we have grown to know and root for, while celebrating the final defeat of Lord Voldemort makes this movie one in which viewers remain on the cusp of multiple emotions. Finally, a bitter sweet smile will grace your face as the older version of each of the main protagonists bid farewell to their own children on their first train ride to Hogwarts. Throughout this film, Potter fans relive why they fell in love with the series from the beginning. Everything from the emotions portrayed by each of the characters, the intensity included in the acquisition of additional Horcruxes and their eventual demise, to the amazing special effects make this movie one every Potter fan, current and future needs to see.

The movie was my favorite of this 2011 year, and probably for many more to come for its ability to draw me into a story of fantasy, and yes, even love. As an adult woman this series captured my affection even when I thought wizards and witches were just for my youth. I can gladly declare that I am a Pothead, a Potter fan to the end.
