When It Reigns It Pours: MVP Derrick Rose

No one but reigning MVP Derrick Rose knows the readiness and excitement he feels going into a new season following his MVP crown. The ambitious and youngest MVP in NBA history is not taking this season lightly. His drive and motivation is on auto-pilot, and he has a competitive athletic instinct that gives him the hunger for more. Being the face of the franchise at age 23, he has a bright future ahead. Now is not the time to stop.

The fourth year point guard, who broke Michael Jordan’s record for most points scored by a rookie in a playoff game, has a lot more to accomplish. He continued through the lockout with his strong work ethic to continue to stay on top of his game and be prepared for an even greater season. He has continually improved his numbers in each of his three seasons in the NBA. He continually wowed crowds and even his own teammates through his style of play. Anyone watching wouldn’t know what to expect from D. Rose who plays the role of a true point guard, executes unlike your typical point guard, and then some. With the track record he has set, we can expect that he will only get better.

Besides MVP award, Rookie of the Year, and breaking playoff records, he like every athlete has his eye on the championship. Beyond winning trophies, the path of NBA success is a journey beyond imagination. As Michael Jordan stated on the night of celebrating the 1991 Bulls 20 year anniversary of winning their first championship, “You guys are in store for a lot of more championships if you look at this team tonight. Don’t be surprised if y’all have six more coming.” That statement from Mike can only boost motivation to Rose and his teammates.

Jordan also never seen as a childhood dream that he would hold multiple NBA records, win championships, and even be inducted into the Hall of Fame. He just knew that he had the drive and passion to play basketball and worked hard to be the greatest. Behold the results Air Jordan produced! Derrick Rose has a similar approach to the game of basketball. He works hard, expects the best, and the rest falls into place. This has been the winning attitude and work ethic that has worked effectively thus far for D. Rose. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it?

When Derrick Rose was asked if he think he would win the MVP award, he flipped the answer by asking, “Why can’t I be MVP of the league? I work hard everyday.” So why wouldn’t the MVP continue to have explosive performances, and obtain more achievements in the NBA? He is only getting started. Watch out! He is a raging Bull on a quest for more.
