Materials:

· 1 skein Lion Brand Yarn Thick &

Quick (Sample shown is in Wool- ease Wheat)

· Size 13 (9mm) circular needle · Size 13 (9 mm)double point needles (dpn)

Gauge: 9 sts X 12 rows = 4″/10 cm square on in Stockinette st on size 13 (9mm) needles or size needed in order to obtain gauge. To save time, take the time to check gauge.

HAT:

With size 13 (9mm) needles cast on 52 sts (NOTE: hat is worked in the round; place a marker to indicate where each row begins and ends, being careful not to twist yarn; all rows are worked as Right Side (RS) rows)

Work 3 ½” of k1, p1 rib

Row 1, 2 & 3: *p3, k1; rep from * to end

Row 4: *p3tog, yo, k1, yo; rep from * to end

Row 5, 6 & 7: p1, p3; rep from * to end

Row 8: *yo, k1, yo, p3tog; rep from * to end

Repeat rows 1 through 3 one more time; next row p3tog, k1; rep around. Next knit all rows and change to dpn’s – k2, k2tog around; next row k1, k2tog; and then k2tog until 6 sts rem. Next break off yarn, leaving a long tail; with a tapestry needle thread yarn through remaining sts, pull tread through to inside of hat and pull thread tight and secure; finally weave in all loose ends.
