TRP Wrestling Event on New Years Day Produces Top Notch Results

Top Rope Promotions presented another action packed card on January 1st 2012. The annual New Years Day show took place at the historic Police Athletic League Hall in Fall River, Massachusetts and was headlined by the retirement of Big Daddy Bravo. Due to time constraints, every match with the exception of the main event and women’s scramble bout, were under strict 15 minute time limits. Here are the results for Top Rope Promotions “New Years Day Bash 2012.”

1. J. Freddie beat “G3″ Gino Giovanni by submission in 8:13

The 2CW Heavyweight wrestling champion was successful in his return to the PAL Hall in Fall River. The former TRP champion scored a victory over Top Rope Promotions staple character “The Great” Gino Giovanni. Gino attacked early, targeting the leg of J Freddie. Gino had Freddie trapped in a figure-four leg lock in the center of ring, which Freddie was able to reverse into a modified sharpshooter.

2. Tag Team Champions The Whaling City Wrecking Crew defeated The All Winners Club by DQ in 9:57

The Whaling City Wrecking Crew tore through The All Winners Club, but came up short on a clean victory. After being tossed around the ring with press slams and suplexes, Isys Ephex and Gregory Edwards let their frustration get the best of them. As Nick Steel hoisted Edwards up onto his shoulders, manager Marshal McNeil threw Isys Ephex his croquet, which he immediately used to take out Nick and cause a disqualification. The All Winners Club hightailed it out of the ring and the PAL Hall before Steel and Vain were able to get retribution.

3. “Brutal” Bob Evans pinned Vinny Marseglia in 14:39 under controversial circumstances.

In a very exciting contest, Bob Evans got a tainted victory over fan favorite Vinny Marseglia. As the time limit drew closer, and with less than 30 seconds left in the bout, Vinny Marseglia actually got a 3 count pin on Evans. However, after the count was made and the bell was sounded, referee Holyoke Joe recanted his decision. Bob Evans had his foot on the rope. As Joe called for the match to be restarted, Bob was able to grab a quick roll up on Marseglia and get the official win.

After the match, Gene Joseph, accompanied to the ring by the wrestler formerly known as Buck Nasty, addressed the crowd. Joseph disavowed his past actions and asked the Fall River Faithful for forgiveness. He stated him and Jared Gaw were petitioning Steve Ricard for the job as matchmaker in Top Rope Promotions. Joseph and Gaw were seen gathering signatures throughout the night.

4. Owen Graichen and Guy Alexander beat Brandon Webb and Kevin Cordeiro in 8:01

The newly formed alliance of Owen Graichen and Guy Alexander made quick work of Webb and Cordeiro. Owen and Guy hit Cordeiro with a wheel barrel into a face buster for the win.

5. TRP Heavyweight Champion Matt Taven pinned Bobby Ocean in 13:55

Matt Taven successfully defended his championship against Bobby Ocean. Ocean received the title shot after Matt Magnum was declared medically unable to wrestle. Ocean put up a very valiant effort, as the two traded maneuvers inside and outside the ring. At one point, the champ dove over the top rope with a soaring plancha. It was quite impressive. Taven got the pin after Bobby Ocean after hitting him with his patented frogsplash from the top rope.

6. Jason Blade defeated Scott Reed in 7:44

TRP returned from intermission with the reigning Interstate Champion Jason Blade successfully defending his title in a surprisingly short, but nonetheless exciting title match.

7. Loretta Vanwick won an 8 Women Scramble Match

In a hugely entertaining women’s match, the debuting Loretta Vanwick last eliminated Barbie to win the 8 Women Scramble bout. Other participants included the returning Sandy Starr, Alexxis Nevaeh, Mercedes KV, the debuting Kasey Rae, Luscious Latasha and Lea Morrison.

8. Big Daddy Bravo pinned Sebastian Reese in 9:01 in his retirement match

Big Daddy Bravo, also known as Big Daddy Kahuna, had an intense and physical battle with Sebastian Reese before finally pinning him with a powerbomb. After the match, Bravo thanked the Fall River Faithful and his family for the years of support.
