Travel Guide: Best Restaurant Dining in Hungary, Budapest

First of all, let me commence this article by saying that Budapest is a glorious city. Famous not only for its delicious cuisine, but for its tremendous night life, history, sights, monuments and museums. For those looking for a relaxed historical and sight seeing adventure Budapest is an absolutely perfect destination, like wise if the traveler would like to experience a crazy immense night life, Budapest, in my opinion is the best in the world. (I am well traveled)

However, this article will specifically focus on wining and dining in Budapest and I will reveal the destinations of the BEST restaurants in Budapest accompanied by a small review and a rating to indicate which restaurant is favourable taking into account price/service/FOOD/etc.

1. The best restaurant by a fine margin is ‘TOM GEORGE’. The restaurant is in a glorious location right in the inner city. It lies on the same street as the famous cathedral ‘Basilica’ and therefore gives a magnificent view of a majestic building whilst eating top class food. The restaurant offers in most part Italian based food from a variety of choice from a huge but delicious menu. The price is incredible for the food offered with a main course meal averaging out at 2500 HUF!! The service is also tremendous. They speak English, German, Spanish, Japanese and more! They are extremely friendly and helpful upon choosing meals and drinks. The selection of wines and alcoholic drinks is vast and can suit any drinker. The appearance is also exquisite which very comfortable seating and seating arrangements can suit an type of visit.

I strongly recommend visiting this restaurant as it is truly wonderful!! I rate it a grand 10/10

2. Another truly magnificent restaurant is ‘Leroy’. Especially because the price is extremely affordable with a main meal on average 2000 HUF and the quality of food for the price is great. There are perhaps 4-5 of these restaurants around the city and very easily accesible. The appearance of the restaurant is also very appealing, with relatively dimmed lights allows ease for close quarter conversations where separate tables are lit up. The only downside in my opinion to the restaurant is the service, in terms of how friendly the waiters are, otherwise food arrives in good time. The restaurant offers no specific regional food but a variety of anything and everything giving the customer a large and delicious choice on the menu.

Again i strongly recommend going to ‘Leroy’ whilst visiting. I rate it as 8/10.

3. A personal favourite restaurant, recommended by a friend who is a restaurant critic by profession, is ‘Nancsi Neni’. the restaurant is a very traditional Hungarian restaurant where customers can experience the best cooked Hungarian meals for example they serve an AMAZING gulyas soup! The service is extremely good, the waiters are the friendlies I have ever had. The restaurant is very child friendly with a small playground in the corner of the outside dining courtyard. Especially in summer a wonderful place to eat an amazing lunch or dinner. The one downside is that the restaurant is in the suburb of Budapest, not too close to any Hotels, however, this proves the restaurant is very traditional and you will not find many tourists there but locals enjoying the best food in the world. Thus, price is also incredible as the customer base is purely locals there are no scams!

I rate this restaurant a 9/10! (not 10 due to its location – cheap and accesible by local taxi)

Hope you enjoy your stay in Budapest, and enjoyed the restaurants as much as I did!!
