Penelope Athena Richmond is the newest female force of awesomeness to join the family for Tina Fey and her composer husband, Jeffrey Richmond. Fey’s representatives confirmed the little one was born Wednesday, and is healthy and happy. The new sibling to five-year-old daughter, Alice, made a healthy arrival, but may enjoy neutral nursery colors, as the parents opted not to know her gender before birth. Fey joked with Ellen DeGeneres that she was “just going to see what it chooses to wear to the prom” and also shared that Alice enjoyed watching baby birthing shows and practicing cesarean section moves on mom, that fortunately were not needed.
Fey had been torn about taking on new motherhood amidst her many duties and shooting schedules, but family values won out. The 30 Rock driving force and author of the best-selling book, “Bossypants” often derives her best humor from herself, including the title of the book, but new babies bring a whole new definition to who wears diapers in the family and the notion of immediate attention, so for a few months, for sure, little Penelope will take that title from mom!
