The World in Emily’s Eyes

It’s easy to forget how simple life can be, but when we take the time to look through the eyes of a child we are suddenly reminded of the most important things in life. This is the story of the beautiful blue eyed preschooler, Emily.

As we look into the world through Emily’s eyes, we suddenly see the forgotten creative beauty it holds. A world, where rocks are made of peanut butter and jelly, flowers grow from sparkles and Santa hides in the trees outside with his sleigh, patiently waiting with his presents close by.

In the eyes of this four year old, we see that the stars we use to wish on as kids, are actually made of crayons. Broccoli has now been replaced with candy, and milk has been replaced with Kool aide.

Our biggest worry is not whether we have enough money to cover the bills, but rather if our shoe has come untied, again. We no longer wonder what it would be like to meet our favorite celebrity, because we now believe they live in our house with us anyway.

Looking at this world through Emily’s eyes, we see that the only deadlines we have to meet are whether or not we make it in time before our parents get to the count of three. Our highlight of the day is not when it is time to clock off of our job, but when the magical yellow school bus pulls up in front of the house to drop off our big sisters.

The only truth this child knows is tattling and should not be misinterpreted as misbehaving in this honest world. The only vacation you will ever need in Emily’s world, is tip toeing away for a late afternoon nap. As we glance through this world of imagination and character, we are reminded that life is not as serious as it seems. We know that our world is full of hope, and that it exists because we can see it through the eyes of little Emily.
