“In these times of economic difficulties and emotional turmoil I believe that the Have’s ought to share with the Have nots .this passage can be Found in Luke ch.3:10-14″ ….Why? Because people are asking “what then shall we Do?” This is the quote I received while talking with Rev. Thomas Gillespie; Senior, Pastor at Hebron The Church of Jesus Christ in N.C. when asked how he would encourage his congregation and others during these hard economic and jobless times.

It’s a question that is on the mind of many a believer and spiritual recluse alike; everyone is looking for light where things seem bleak and dark. The verse he was referring to is something all of us should do no matter your religion and states “And the people asked him saying, what shall we do then? He answered, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.

In my quest for answers to many of life’s questions sometimes the Southern Baptist girl from my youth leads me straight to the bible and spirituality as well as the kind Rev. who took time out to speak with me on the phone and e-mail to share his insight. This was all in an effort to point myself and my readers to some quotes for inspiration in many of life’s struggles.

“What to do when you feel discouraged” Philippians 4:6-8 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.”

What to do to keep peace in your life can be found in an excerpt from psalm 34.

Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
13 keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.

“In the case of grief” according to Rev. Gillespie, Thessalonians 4:13,14. Is the place you want to turn to and is stated here: 13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

In the times of hardship, Psalms 46

1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging

There are many scriptures and informed people who can guide and help you in times of struggle. Contact your local churches and if you are in a position to help your fellow churches, humanitarian organizations, family, friends, neighbors and strangers then please do so.
