The Birthday Phobia for People Over Thirty

The Back Story
… As my momma approached thirty years old, a friend of hers described it as being the end of the world. Momma was told that every thing would change, her body, mind, personal aspects, etc. I remember momma literally being sick over the simple thought of it and was extremely traumatized by it. Of course her thirtieth birthday came and went without any major life altering catastrophes. She now slowly approaches fifty and embraces it with grace and a bit of excitement.

When I was a small child, I remember hearing people refer to their fiftieth birthday as being over the hill. I of course couldn’t imagine anyone dreading their birthday. To a child, birthdays come second only to Christmas. But as I’ve grown, I’ve noticed the age shrinking to thirty.

As I quickly approach my thirtieth birthday, I’m in search of an age old question… Why do people fear turning thirty?

I am in search of all of your thoughts and concerns. I look forward to being enlightened. Place your comment at the bottom of this article or “contact” me at http://contributor.yahoo.com/user/1008992/pamela_smith.html .`
