The Best New Halloween Candy in 2011

Every year I look forward to the new Halloween candy that will hit the shelves. Here are a few of my favorites this season.

Sun Cups ($3.99 at wholefoodsmarket.com)
If you can’t eat peanut butter because of nut allergies like myself, than you need to checkout a new candy called Sun Cups. They’re completely peanut-free and made with sunflower seed butter. When it comes to taste, the Sun Cups are really delicious. They’re the perfect treat for anyone with nut or gluten allergies.

Tootsie Ghost Dots ($1 at www.target.com)
Another candy I’m loving this Halloween is the Tootsie Ghost Dots. They’re cool version of the classic dots that have been around for years. The fruit-flavored ghosts come in a variety of different flavors, so you never know which flavor you’re going to get when you reach inside the box. Luckily they have the same great taste as the original dots. The Tootsie Ghost Dots are also very chewy, so I wouldn’t recommend eating a lot them at one time because they were constantly getting stuck in my teeth and even rip out a filling!

Jelly Belly Candy Corn Jelly Beans ($5.99 at jellybelly.com)
Jelly Belly recently came out with candy corn flavored jelly beans and they’re awesome. They have the texture of jelly beans but the flavor of candy corn which creates the perfect combination of two American classics. I also like the fact that its not too sweet like candy corn that I’ve tried in the past. So if you just cant get enough candy corn during Halloween, than this is definitely the candy for you.

Hershey’s Air Delight ($3.69 in supermarkets everywhere)
The most popular Halloween candy in my house right now is the Hershey’s Air Delights. The chocolate used in these Kisses makes them softer and creamier than the original kind. They’re lighter than air and so addictive that you’ll want to eat the whole bag! Whenever I’m craving chocolate, I grab a couple and it satisfies my sweet tooth every time.

It seems the hottest trend this year in Halloween candy is new versions of classic candies. Some of the favorites that many of us have grown up eating are now being reintroduced with a new look and flavor. Another trend in Halloween candy that I’ve notice has been diet-friendly treats. A lot of the candy that’s hit the market is gluten-free, allergy-proof or low in calories which is great because everyone has different needs.
