Take Your Artwork to a Whole New Level with Nature Print Paper

Nature Print paper is light-sensitive. When it’s exposed to the sun, the blue paper turns white. Using Nature Print paper is a unique way to create art instead of using crayons and paper. This project is very easy and it’s amazing to watch the blue paper turn white and back to blue again. Read on for a simple art project using Nature Print paper.

What you need:

Nature Print paper (found in craft stores or online)
Objects to lay on the paper such as leaves, foam shapes or cut outs
Sun
Water

What to do:

Since Nature Print paper is light-sensitive, you will want to keep the paper in the package until you’re ready to use.

Lay objects over the paper and then place in direct sunlight for two minutes. You can pin the paper on cardboard and use small stones to keep your project from blowing away. The blue paper will become very light blue. Once two minutes is up, bring the paper back inside. The paper will still be dark blue where the objects were.

Place your Nature Print paper in a shallow container of cool water for two minutes. The areas that were exposed to the sun will turn back to a darker blue and the areas that were covered with an object will turn light blue. Remove your paper and allow to dry.

You can create your own stencil, like the picture shown for an added step to the project.

What you need:

Black tempera paint
Paintbrush
Clear transparency sheet

What to do:

Cover the transparency with black paint and allow to dry. Use a craft stick, skewer or toothpick to scratch your picture into the transparency.

Lay the transparency over the Nature Print paper and follow the above steps. You can use crayons or markers to color your finished picture.

The possibilities are endless when using Nature Print paper. It’s unique, natural and gives the artist a new way to create beautiful pictures. If you toggle between pictures #4 and #5, you can see the switch in blue colors.

Happy crafting!
