Summer Whispers

Whisper the trees once more
of lightly dancing branches,
basking in the heavy heat
of a lazy afternoon.

We lift our faces
to the sweetness,
bright and burgeoning blossoms, overflowing,
the future meal of bustling bumblebees.

Unsheathed feet softly embrace
ticklish green prickles,
of green carpet,
gently succombing beneath.

The sun, the heartbeat
of a fair-weather friend,
summer fades fast out of sight,
as a lone leaf falls silently.
