Styrofoam Ball Wedding Decorations

If you do many crafts you already know that Styrofoam is pretty cheap. Styrofoam balls seem simplistic when you buy them but there are many ways to turn them into gorgeous decorations for a wedding. When you spruce the Styrofoam up a bit you see that stunning decorations can be very inexpensive. Decorate your entire wedding with Styrofoam balls and the guests will marvel at the beauty of the room.

Glitter paint is just one way you can make a Styrofoam ball that’s perfect for a wedding reception. Make sure the paint you select is appropriate for Styrofoam since some paints will melt it. If you buy a large ball and paint it you can hang it up on the dance floor and it will glitter and shine. You can also take the craft a step further and hang white, silver gold, or another color of streamers from the ball.

Whole or half balls can turn an ordinary table into something more spectacular. If you’re using a whole ball, cut the tiniest sliver off of it, and it will stand up straight. Use double-sided tape to stick these to the corners of a square or rectangular table to make it look more elegant. Paint them with glitter paint and the tables will be dazzling. Cut an old candle with a serrated knife and use that knife to cut Styrofoam so that it’s smooth and straight.

Make a beautiful table centerpiece by stacking Styrofoam balls. Cut a slice off of one ball to use as the bottom ball. Make sure this ball is well secured to the table or even to a block of wood. Stack and glue more balls of the same size (large balls are best), cutting a tiny sliver off each one so it will stand straight, and glue them together to make a tower. These can stand as-is or you can push flowers, palms fronds, vines, or other plants into the top ball. Allow some of these to spill down the sides of the tower for a lovely centerpiece. These can be made to stand in corners of a room as well. Make a much smaller version with only one ball and some plants. These are perfect for reception tables and food tables.

Cut a sliver off of a small ball and paint it with glitter paint. Cut a slit in the top and slide a name card into it. These are a glitzy yet inexpensive way to make place markers.

There are other things you can use to decorate the balls and make table decorations. Glue on foil or other cupcake wrappers, all over the ball, and stand these pomanders up or hang them around the room. Or, cover the balls with white pom-poms to make winter decorations. Glue cheap rhinestones all over the Styrofoam balls and stand them on upside-down wine glasses to make decorations which look extremely expensive but aren’t.

Run down to your nearest craft store and grab an assortment of Styrofoam balls. You’ll see that it’s not at all expensive to create an entire room full of decorations that shine and glow – just as it should be for this beautiful wedding day.
