Review of ELF Studio Cream Eyeshadow in Dawn

I have recently been really into cream eyeshadows, and at its low price, ELF seems like a good pick. A lot of people have compared these cream eyeshadows to MAC and Benefit’s cream shadows, and I decided to check if this eyeshadow actually lives up to those claims. The eyeshadow comes in the same container as the Studio Lip Conditioners do. They are a square, bulky plastic container with a black screw cap that seems pretty tight and secure so the cream shadow does not dry out very quickly. While I do wish the packaging were more space efficient, it’s not too bad if you only have one of these.

Dawn is a beautiful antique gold sort of color. It has some gold sparkle that actually increases the texture of this eyeshadow, reducing its pigmentation. However, this eyeshadow is plenty pigmented and does not need a lot of building up for opacity of color. I really enjoy the beautiful color and think it’s a great pick for fall.

This eyeshadow is not as creamy as the traditional eyeshadow, but it is indeed more similar to the Benefit Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows in that they have a somewhat “drier” texture (though the eyeshadow is certainly not dry). Surprisingly, this does not impact the ability to apply this eyeshadow evenly or blend. The fact that this eyeshadow is not extremely cream also means that it creases a lot less easily than most cream shadows. While this cream eyeshadow will fade throughout the day, I have found that it really does not crease very much, especially if you do not apply a very heavy layer of it. The cream eyeshadow is more or less intact by the end of the day, which means that’s one less thing I have to worry about regarding makeup touchups.

I definitely enjoyed this product, but I wish ELF had a greater color selection so I could have more colors to try out. It has recently expanded to some brighter colors in case you are interested. I would recommend these products and will definitely pick up some more the next time I order from ELF.
