Review: Mommy’s Helper Cushie Tushie Padded Potty Seat

Our youngest daughter is potty training and, even though she has a couple different potty chairs in the house, we have found she actually prefers using the real toilet (I think it’s because she likes to flush it) and, as someone who hates cleaning up potty seats, I kind of prefer it too.

My wife and I had a padded potty seat from when our oldest daughter was going through this stage but, after so many years, it finally wore out to the point it fell apart and, not wanting our youngest daughter to get discouraged, we purchased a new one for her; a Mommy’s Helper Cushie Tushie Potty Seat.

When we purchased this seat, we had a couple others to choose from; including a potty seat with Dora the Explorer (her favorite cartoon) on it. But, I decided to buy this one both because it was cheaper (by about $3) and because the others seemed to harder and less comfortable in comparison. So far, I don’t regret this purchase.

There are a couple things I like about this seat. First of all, it fits perfectly on our toilet. This was something I couldn’t say about our other seat, which would slide around a bit and always make me fearful she would fall off of it as a result. She is able to put this on the toilet herself without any difficulty and it stays in place.

Another convenience this one offers that the previous potty seat didn’t was a built-in hook. This allows us to hang it on the wall when it isn’t in use rather than trying to keep it on the back of the toilet or a shelf. Considering our bathroom is a bit cramped to begin with, that’s a nice convenience.

As I expected when I bought this, the seat is also much more comfortable than what she was using. I can tell this because, with the old seat (which was similar to the ones we passed up), she wouldn’t sit on the toilet for very long. With this one, she sits much longer and seems to enjoy it much more.

At $9, this wasn’t the most expensive thing we have ever bought our children. But, it is an investment I feel was well worth every penny; especially if it helps her potty train quicker. I would recommend this to any parent out there looking for a potty seat for their child.
