Night falls ever sooner,
Darkness grows upon golden leaves.
And another summer has passed away
Never to come again.
In this moment, we pass from growth to regeneration.
All hallows eve brings tricks and treats.
As we draw loved ones near,
To feast, give thanks and celebrate the season’s passing.
Reflecting upon deeds done and undone,
Words we have spoken, thoughts left unexpressed.
What is the measure of our existence?
As the earth changes from warm to cool,
As hibernation begins,
We set upon our hopes
For renewal, rebirth, rejuvenation of our spirit.
We build the warming fire
And set our preparations for the coming cold.
With a grateful heart we wait,
For the eventual spring.
