Mother-Daughter Halloween Costumes

With school in session and fall just around the corner, the school supplies are about to make their way out of the aisles and the Halloween costumes will quickly take their place. If this is your daughter’s first Halloween, the idea of matching mother/daughter costumes might appeal to you. What can you and your daughter wear this Halloween?

Queen Amidala and Princess Leia

Flash back to “Star Wars” with your infant or toddler daughter and your Halloween costume selection this year. You can be Queen Amidala and she can be Princess Leia. Several manufacturers sell both Queen Amidala and Princess Leia costumes, complete with buns for your little girl’s hair. If you can get your sons to dress up as Yoda, Chewbacca, or Ewoks, and your husband to rock the night as Han Solo, all the better.

Witches

Witches are a staple of Halloween. Whether you choose to dress up as a sexy or a scary witch, you don’t need to spend a lot of money on your costume. Select a simple black dress, fishnet stockings, and a black hat, and devote your money (and your energy) to your little girl’s witch costume. Match your daughter’s witch costume with her age. Select a bunting witch costume to keep your newborn or infant warm on a chilly Halloween evening, or a frilly or a fairy witch costume for your toddler.

Little Bo Peep and a Baby Sheep

This classic Halloween idea is perfect for baby’s first Halloween. Mom as Little Bo Peep is and baby as a sheep-does it get much cuter than that? Can you get your older toddlers and children to dress up other farm animals, too? If so, be sure to get a family picture.

Flower and Bumblebee

The bumblebee costume was a favorite for my daughters, each wearing it for their very first Halloween. This year, I decided to get in on the action and dress up as a flower. While my costume was thrown together (a green shirt and tissue paper flowers in my hair) you can purchase a flower or a fairy costume to wear alongside your little bumblebee this Halloween.

The Flintstones

There’s nothing cuter than Wilma and Pebbles Flintstone this Halloween. With a matching red wig for mom and bone-shaped ponytail holders for baby, you’ll turn heads while you’re trick-or-treating. Get the whole family in on the act with Fred and Bam-Bam costumes, too.

Dress up for your daughter’s first Halloween this year. The memories will last a lifetime.
