Love of a Lifetime

As he sat in his wheelchair, his body withered in his old age, he continued to grin. He desperately continued to cling to the memory of his wife. He was losing his battle with dementia and these memories were all he had left. He just sat there with his eyes closed and that grin just appeared on his face.

It was 1952, his wife was in labor. As she moaned in pain, he gently stroked her soft blonde hair. When the moment came, his eyes filled up with tears as he realized he was a father. The new family was picture perfect and this was the happiest time in their young lives.

As he watched his wife care for their new baby, a sense of pride overwhelmed him. He reached out and touched his beautiful wife’s face with his not-yet-calloused hand. Her skin was so soft and inviting. He was in love with her, inside and out.

As the years went by, the man and wife aged, but stayed passionate, caring, and completely in love with each other. They raised a wonderful family that grew with grandchildren, and even a couple of great grandchildren.

The old withered man sat in his wheelchair. He was unaware of the heartache that he had felt when his soul mate went to heaven. He was unaware anymore that his children had grown up and had children of their own. He was blissfully wrapped in the comfort of his few remaining memories, and just passing by the time until he would see his lovely wife again.
