Local Breweries of Springfield Missouri

Here in the City of Springfield we have a lot of clubs and bars where you can get a drink, but the one thing it’s lacking is a business that loves making a good beer. Thankfully there are a few people who have taken the chance to make a great product. I’m going to tell you about Springfield Brewing Company and Mother’s Brewing Company.

Springfield Brewing Company was founded by Paul Mueller Company in 1996 and is located on 305 South Market Street. Paul Mueller started out in the brewing equipment fabrication end of things. Now Springfield Brewing Company is a place of innovated, high quality beer, as well as having an expansive lunch & dinner menu. The varieties of beers they make include: Unfiltered Wheat, Pale Ale, Lager, and Black Sheep. Unfiltered Wheat is one of their most popular brews because of its combination of malted barley, wheat, and hops which makes it a light, refreshing beer. Pale Ale is a staff favorite that has a blend of hops, fruitiness of their house ale yeast, and rounded off by caramel and pale malted barley. Munich Lager is very similar to the pale lagers of Germany and is one of my favorites. Black Sheep is a specialty line of stout beers that they have been working on. Springfield Brewing Company also has live music on Wednesday through Sunday from local bands to regional artists, so be sure to check their website to see who’s coming to play.

Mother’s Brewing Company is a local brewery located at what was the old Butternut Bread factory on the corner of Grant and Walnut. It was started by Jeff Schrag back in 2010 who knew that you could brew a great beer anywhere and with the help of some enthusiastic co-workers they started cooking up some unique blends. Today they have three well known beers: Towhead, Lil’ Helper, and Three Blind Mice. Towhead is a union of traditional German ale and Midwestern wheats that is slightly sweet and has a kiss of hops; this is one beer that good when you just want something cold and tasty. Lil’ Helper has got some bite with a ton of different hops and more alcohol content than their other brews, if you’re an IPC lover then this is the beer for you. Three Blind Mice is a combination of an English brown ale, German altbiers, and Irish red, if you’re ready for a unique brown beer experience then it’s time to belly up to the bar.

Both Springfield Brewing Company and Mother’s Brewing Company offers the Ozark area a great variety of refreshments, food, and entertainment. So if you are ever in the area for a visit take a tour of their facilities and sample a taste of their latest creations.
