When Dancing with the Starts Season 13 announced its newest contestants, the internet had an uproar towards one of the show’s newest faces, transgender Chaz Bono. His dancing partner Lacey Schwimmer quickly responded via twitter, stating the utmost dissapointment towards the public’s negativity.
“Why people feel it’s OK to judge, bully and harass others for being themselves is beyond me. Shame on you people!” Tweeted Schwimmer.
Bono, the only child of Cher and the late Sunny Bono, is a female-to-male transgender and gay advocate who underwent surgery at age 39. He is also a writer, actor and musician and had a reality series on the Oprah Winfrey Network.
Soon after Schwimmer’s outspoken support, Bono also received encouragement from other fans, including his mom.
Looks like Dancing with the Stars is off to an exciting season!
