Kinetik Helps You Find Killer iPhone, iPad Apps Via Social Networking

Social networking, schnetworking, right? Yeah, I know. I am so overshared I feel like a sexted pic at an 8th grade dance sometimes.

But I could still use good ideas about what apps or games are worth my time. Enter Kinetik: a free app whose goal is to help you share the apps you love for your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad and get suggestions from others about what is keeping them distracted during commute time or entertained during meetings.

Due to social networking fatigue (is there an app for that?) I wasn’t completely sold on the idea when I met developer Juan Moreno, who created the app along his brother Raul and an international team, at a Hacks and Hackers meetup, but I agreed to try out the beta.

Not much of a gamer, I was looking for something add to Angry Birds but wasn’t sure where to start. So I downloaded Kinetik, where you can scroll through a live feed of users who are all giving the thumbs up for apps or find people you know from Facebook or Twitter check out their suggestions.

Scrolling through the main feed, I stumbled on Kick Buttowski: Loco Launcho, just the sort of sticky, mindless game I like. Big success!

The one slight snag: Kinetic doesn’t know what you’ve already got installed on your device, so it may make suggestions for apps that you already have. (Moreno tells me that since there is no foolproof way to detect all installed apps on a device, they opted not to attempt it.)

There are plenty of other places to find other apps — think iPhone Apps Finder or Free App Finder, or but the Kinetik interface is clean, it’s easy to use and, most importantly, has some good suggestions.

Try it out and let me know what you think.
