Idiot’s Guide to Mountain Mowing

There are many ways to keep the yard looking clean and neat. Some people pay for a private or commercial lawn service to come to their house to make their yard beautiful, while others take on the project themselves.

I have seen people do their lawn work in many different ways.

For most lawns, the project involves a riding lawnmower of some sort to do the bulk of the work. Some homeowners are very particular in how their lawn is done. It must be cut at a certain length, blowing all trimmings one way with rows perfectly straight. While others could care less how it’s done just so long as it gets done.

Along with the riding mower, it’s usually necessary to have a push mower to do those hard to reach areas. Those places unreachable by the push mower is the dreaded weed eater’s job. Most people hate the weed eater part because they tend to eat not only weeds– but if not careful– legs too.

All of the above works well for flat and somewhat hilly lawns.

What would one do if their home is located on the side of a mountain with their front lawn going on a seven foot slope? When faced with such oppositions, one would simply need a good rope, a push mower and a lot of muscles. Simply tie the rope to the handle of the push mower, and ever so gently allow the mower to roll down the steep slope and drag it back up the hill and start again.

There is no lawn too hard to mow. There is no right or wrong way to do the job. It just takes some TLC– and in the very extreem cases– the ability to think outside the box. Happy mowing!
