“I Do” Wedding Shoes

Nearly anything and everything from your wedding becomes a keepsake, doesn’t it? You – and others – cherish everything from the gown, to the shoes, to the invitations and thank-you notes. After all, the big day is very special, and even on a budget wedding, you spend a lot of money. If you’re the bride, your wedding shoes are just one thing you’ll save as a keepsake. But you can make them even more special by turning them into “I Do” shoes. Don’t worry; it won’t change the look of the gorgeous shoes you’ve decided on for the wedding. It’ll just add a special element that can be the “blue” from “something borrowed, something blue”, or can just be a secret message that only you know of.

“I Do” shoes are so easy to make because all you have to do is write on the bottom of them with fabric paint. The paint comes in a squeezable bottle so that you can write directly onto the shoe bottoms. Wad up a towel, position the shoes so that they’re upside-down on it, and point the toes of the shoes away from you.

Dispense the paint – blue or any other color you want – right onto the shoe. Write fancy, just print – whatever you prefer. Leave the paint to dry for a few hours but don’t wear them until the paint has dried for 24 hours.

Instead of fabric paints you can also use a paint pen. The pens come in many colors so you can add gold, silver, white, or other shoe-bottom accents. Write “I Do” with the pen, and allow the short amount of time required for it to dry.

If you don’t want to write “I Do”, you have many other choices. You can write your name on one shoe, the groom’s name on the other shoe, then split the word “Forever” between the two shoes. When the feet are put together, and the bottoms viewed, they will say “So and So Forever”. Another choice is to write the month and day on one shoe, and the wedding year on the bottom of the other.

Writing on the bottom of the shoes is nice for other people in the wedding party, too. You can write the wedding date or other sentiment on the bottoms of the bridesmaids shoes, the mother-of-the-bride shoes, and even the groom’s.
