So I learned something pretty cool the other day. Did you know you can actually use your home computer to make great-sounding hip-hop beats, without having to purchase super expensive software? Really, I had always assumed that if you wanted to make your own beat, mix and make songs you had to purchase very expensive mixing equipment and software. I was looking around online, just wasting time at work as usual, and I came across a couple cool programs.
The two programs are called Sonic Producer and Dub Turbo. Pretty much anyone can use these beat-making programs to create quality beats from their home computer. Dub Turbo is a program you actually download and install on your computer, while Sonic Producer is completely online (you log into their website and use their online application to mix your beats). They’re similarly priced, at $40 each.
I’m sure there are other beat-making programs available other than these two, but these were the two names that kept popping up all over as I was researching how to make beats from home.
If you’re at all interested in mixing and messing around with making beats, I’d recommend purchasing a program like one of these. They are cheap and offer a lot of options for people new to the music making industry. I’d bet that once You become more advanced, you’ll probably be willing to shell out the big bucks then for the more professional software. But, by that time you should be very confident in your beat-making and maybe you’ve even started making money by selling your beats!
That was another thing I discovered recently. I had no idea you could make these beats at home on your computer and then sell them online! Would be a great way to make some nice spending money cash or save up a good sum to have at your disposal if you want to take the next step in beat-making.
The last thing I’ll say is to remember to start small when trying to make beats from your computer. Don’t have too high of expectations for your beginner beats! It has a bit of a learning curve and your first beats won’t be that good, let’s be honest. I’m still trying to make beats that sound really good. My beats certainly would not be radio-quality, let’s just say that. But, I’ve definitely made a lot of progress, and I’ll be making terrific beats soon!
