How to Give Your Planters a Fall Look

During the summer months you see a lot of planters sitting on steps, and on front laws. As Fall starts to approach you will notice the flowers start to dwindle down and close up. The next thing you end up seeing are a bunch of planters with withered flowers, and dirt. Some leave it this way through out the entire winter. Instead of just letting them sit this way, why not decorate them for Fall. Below you will find several ways that you can go about giving your planter a nice Fall look.

Use pine cones

You can walk around the neighborhood, and find plenty of pine cones on the ground. Collect some nice ones that are not broken and neatly arrange them in the planter. You can leave the dirt on the bottom so that the pine cones neatly stick out. To add a splash of color you can also put a nice, small sized lawn decoration in them. They sell little animals, and other items that can be placed on your front lawn. You can also use a string to hang smaller size pine cones and drape this around the planter. You can easily secure it to the planter, using durable outdoor glue.

Acorns and Fall Flowers

There are some flowers which are prefect for the Fall season. Do your research and find flowers that are made for this type of weather. You can than place these flowers in the planters and fill in the gaps around the flowers with acorns. This will give your planter a great Fall look, and it is easy to do. One word of caution, when using acorns is that it will certainly attract squirrels. If you don’t want the squirrels on your steps, you may want to put the planters a little farther away, near the front lawn.

Mini pumpkins

This is also the time of year, when many stores put the little mini pumpkins on sale. These look really nice in planters, along with some leaves neatly tucked in underneath. The little pumpkins themselves will help to hold the leaves neatly in place. If you don’t want to be bothered with the real ones you can instead, purchase artificial miniature pumpkins.

Artificial fruit

Artificial fruit also can look great in these planters, once you have removed the flowers. You don’t have to worry about critters coming and bothering your planters. Since the fruit is artificial it will help to add a nice splash of color to your front lawn.
