Harry Reid Votes Against Obama Jobs Act

In an effort to whitewash the fact that his own party denied his latest stimulus spending bill, President Obama released another campaign video blaming Republicans for keeping teachers, cops and firefighters out of work.

“The truth of the matter is, most Democrats know just as well as I do that passing another stimulus and tax hike is a lousy idea, which is why the president is having such a hard time convincing many Democrats to vote for it.” said Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY).

A cloture motion to overcome a Republican led filibuster required 60 affirmative votes. There are 51 Senate Democrats and 2 left wing Independents for a total of 53 Democrats, yet they could only muster up 50 affirmative votes.

Of the 47 Senate Republicans, 46 voted against cloture to protect citizens from more taxes, higher costs of living and ultimately more unemployment, as evidenced by the first Stimulus. Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) did not vote.

The 3 Democrats who voted against cloture were Ben Nelson of Nebraska, Jon Tester of Montana and, most notably, Harry Reid of Nevada.

One can almost here Obama gasping, “Et tu, Harry?”

For those of you in the Occupy Wall Street movement, that was a reference to Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, when the dictator was brought down by his right hand man, Marcus Brutus.

It is not hard to see why Reid would vote against this boondoggle, as Obama’s credibility is nil. He is still pushing the same policies that is keeping America in this recession. He still doesn’t seem to grasp the fact that you don’t get out of debt by spending and borrowing, nor the fact that government cannot dictate what will work in the private sector. Most importantly, government cannot force private industry to hire by punishing them for succeeding.
