There are a number of handmade gifts that anyone would enjoy receiving but a handmade gift made with a special photo gives a personal touch to the gift, Here are some gift ideas using photos.
Framed Photo Scrapbook Page
Making a framed photo scrapbook page is fun and easy to do. The supplies needed are: 5″ x 7″ photos, 8″ x 10″ (or larger) frame, scrapbook paper, word die-cuts or stickers, adhesive glue or hot glue gun, ribbon or lace and anything that would add an extra special touch. Find a photo that will mean something to the one receiving the gift. Then look for scrapbook paper that will fit the style of the person. If a 5″ x 7″ photo is used then the scrapbook paper will need to be larger. Take the photo and place it in the center of the scrapbook paper then glue it down. Use the die-cuts or sticker words and place several different ones around the scrapbook paper and glue them down. Make sure the words that are used will have a special meaning for the person it’s intended for. Wrap the lace or ribbon around the photo or scrapbook paper to get the desired effect. Find and use something extra special on the photo scrapbook paper like shells, pebbles, coins, buttons, movie ticket stubs, and flowers. When the scrapbook photo page is complete put it inside the frame. Now it’s ready to give to that special someone.
Photo Wall Hanging
A photo wall hanging is a way to use a lot of photos. Making a wall hanging is easy to do and only requires a few supplies. The supplies needed are a 25″ x 25″ heavy piece of fabric, photos, photo corners, needle, thread, dowel, yarn and something special to put on the photo wall hanging. Sew 1/2 inch around the fabric to keep it from fraying. Turn the fabric over and sew across the top leaving an opening about 1 inch for the dowel. Place the dowel through the opening and tie the yarn to the dowel for a hanger. Find photos that will have special meaning and place them on the fabric. The fabric should be made of a heavier material since there is only going to be one piece for this project. Take the photo corners and place them on each corner of the photos. Make the photo corners a contrasting color so that they are more noticeable against the fabric. Take a needle and some thread and sew each photo corner and photo to the fabric. Sewing the photo corners will keep the photos in place. Find something special to add to the photo wall hanging. When the wall hanging is complete it’s ready for gift giving.
Photo Collage
Making a photo collage is a fun project to do. The supplies needed are photos, poster board, glue and scissors. Cut photos to desired size (collage photos can be any size). Lay all the photos on the poster board and arrange them. Take any type of white glue and start gluing them down. Once the photos are glued then find something special to add to the collage that would be meaningful to the person receiving the collage.
Handmade gifts are fun to make and when given to someone special it makes the gift that much more memorable.
