Fun Autumn Party Themes for Adults

Parties are a great way for adults to relax and reconnect with good friends. The stressors of raising children and paying bills make kicking back with a group of friends once in a while an absolute must. Fall is a terrific time of year to host a get-together with a great crowd of people who want to leave the drama at the door and just enjoy themselves. Adding a theme to the party gives the night that little bit of extra pizazz.

Soup and Bread Party

Who doesn’t love a bowl of steamy, flavorful soup when the autumn chill arrives? Forget the fancy dishes and starters that you feel you must serve when hosting a gathering. Go back to basics with the traditional soup and bread meal. Invite your closest friends to make up a hearty batch of their favorite soup and bring it over for a night of drinks and tasty eats. Take note of what soup variety each guest is bringing as he or she calls to confirm attendance. Bake up a few loaves of bread and mix up a large green salad to accompany the main dishes. Take an anonymous vote at the end of the evening for the most flavorful and enjoyable soup. Offer the winner a small prize as a memento of the evening.

Football Sunday

If your friends are big football fans, fall is the perfect season to host a gathering. Invite your pals over to watch the day’s televised games and enjoy some traditional tailgating snacks. Encourage your guests to wear their favorite team jerseys to create a more festive atmosphere. Serve buffalo wings, hot dogs, nachos and french fries. To keep the cost of liquor at a minimum, purchase one type of beer that you can buy in bulk and buy a few bottles of wine as well. Let your guests know what type of booze you will have on hand so they will feel free to also bring their own.

Thanksgiving Feast

The Thanksgiving holiday is typically spent with immediate family. Why not extend that feeling and holiday cheer to friends who are just as important as family? Organize a Thanksgiving potluck dinner during the fall to share with those in your most intimate circle. Roast a turkey large enough to feed your guests and offer a few traditional side dishes, such as green bean casserole and stuffing. Invite friends to bring additional sides and a dessert. With just a little bit of planning and organization, you can easily pull off a tasty potluck meal that celebrates those who mean the most to you this year.
