Originally begun back in the 1930s as a private project by a local businessman, Rockome Gardens later became open to the public and now draws tens of thousands of visitors annually. This local businessman, in his attempt to provide work for local men during harsh economic times, hired workers to build rock works and landscape his farmland. This is what is today known as Rockome Gardens.

At Rockome Gardens , you will see Amish folk riding past in their horse and buggy. You can experience delicious Amish cooking at the Rockome Restaurant or go on a horse drawn carriage ride. There is also an Amish Museum, Antique Barn Mall and petting zoo for the children. Children will also delight in sitting in the giant rocking chair or taking a ride on the train at the Old Hickory Railroad.
