Easy Vegan Super Bowl Snacks

Snacks are an essential part of any Super Bowl party. People expect them and your guests are going to be sorely disappointed if you don’t have a good selection of snacks at yours. Your guests will be especially disappointed if they happen to be vegan or vegetarian and there is nothing that they can nibble on. Now, I understanding that preparing something for a vegan can be a daunting task for the average omnivore so I came up with some super-easy snacks you can have at your Super Bowl party that will please both vegans and non-vegans alike.

Hummus and Chips

Hummus has really become a popular dip in America, especially at parties and casual get-togethers. Hummus is traditionally vegan, so there’s no need for any modifications if you make it yourself; and, if you don’t want to make, you can just pick some up at your nearest grocery store. Lots of people buy their hummus at the store, so if you do decide to make your own from scratch, it’s not hard to impress. “Healthy chef” Colombe Jacobson shares her recipe here.

Vegetable Tray

Vegetable trays are an understated appetizer. They are looked at as a generic snack-table item yet people generally like them, and some even count on them. Like hummus, vegetable trays are inherently vegan – sans the typical ranch dress and/or accompanying cheese – so there’s no need to wrack your brain. If you want to put together a unique vegetable tray of your own, you can find some inspiration here; or, if you’re feeling lazy, you can just pick one up at the store.

Guacamole

Now, guacamole, unlike hummus or a vegetable tray, is not something you can just pick up at the grocery store. The reason is, just about every kind of prepackaged guacamole you’ll find at the store will have some kind of dairy ingredient in it. Don’t fret, though. Guacamole is arguably the easiest dip in the world to make!

Essentially, it is nothing more than mashed avocado! If you want to get fancy, you can add some salt and pepper, and maybe even a twist of lime. In my opinion, even the people who add tomato are overdoing it. If you absolutely insist on getting fancy with your guacamole, you can follow Alton Brown’s spicy recipe here.

So, there you have it. If you have each of these three snacks at your Super Bowl party, you’re bound to have all your bases covered. Any vegan or vegetarian guests who might show up will be pleased without feeling like you went out of your way for them, and your other guests will enjoy them, too.
