Conspiracy Theorists… A Quick Look at Logic

Today I would like to talk about conspiracy theorists and logic. Yes, I know it seems like these two go together like peanut butter and jelly AND cheese. Well… it seems they don’t. (What? Just me on the cheese thing?)

Conspiracy theorists like to focus on the military and politicians and the super-elite. Let’s try to break this all down adding a little logic into the mix.

We’ll start with the military. My father was in the Air Force doing intelligence work or something like that for our governments military. Well after he had retired, he still would divulge very little about what he did to me. As far as he was concerned, that stuff was classified – as far as he knew, much of what he had done had been de-classified, and possibly was now common knowledge. Didn’t matter. His lips were sealed. That is the military mentality. You do your job with a greater goal in mind. The security of a nation.

Now, with that in mind, let’s take into context what we know about our military. We know WHAT THEY TELL THE PRESS!!

That is all. No more. Just that.

Now then, let’s consider the shady side of our military. The side we all know exists, because they tell the press about these covert operations (well, some of them anyway) all the time. Thirty years after the fact, but still, all the time. Covert this and sting that and underground these and rebel those, assassinate him, remove her from power, undermine that one’s economy… the list goes on and on and on. And generally, these are always successful missions. Strengthening our belief in what our military does is for the good of mankind. Not just America… mankind.

It seems entirely appropriate, to me at least, that the military itself would want to be responsible for the beginnings of any conspirator-type theories. (Supposed “leaked documents”, eye-witness accounts of military goings-on, etc.) Why would they not want to be responsible for everything we think about them. They are like a HUGE company, except that they don’t have any overhead. There’s no cost to the military for being the military. It’s the perfect business model. Have all the people of the nation pay for everything you will ever need, and make the nation’s government responsible for any changes which “the people” feel need to be made. Other than that, each member of the military does what, and only what, the person with more bars or stars tells them to do. THAT is their job. Not mechanic, or typist, or surgeon, well, surgeons may have a little leeway, but still, electricians, engineers, riflemen, or rifleperson, I guess, or is it riflecarrier, whatever… off track… that may seem like their title, but it’s not. Their titles are sergeant and corporal and lieutenant. Their job is what their superior tells them it is. Period. Oh sure, they can have an opinion or an idea or something of that nature, but without permission to speak… nothing.

They certainly have the motivation to keep their happenings awful quiet. After all, they are basically doing the tasks set before them by our politicians. And we all know that our politicians aren’t exactly as forthright as we’d like them to be. Too many private and individual concerns for any of them to actually put our nations well-being above their own. Or their family’s. Or their bank account’s. For the most part, anyway. There are exceptions to nearly everything, as you well know. Our politicians, for all their bluster and braggadocio and bravado, are basically tools of their investors.. I mean constituents. Especially the big donation types. Without funding there is no campaign. Without a campaign you do not get elected. Simple, yes. I have no funding. I have no campaign. I will not be elected. How about you? Funding… no?. Campaign, no! So you get these people, elected by “THE people”, due to their campaign which was funded by private interest groups and individuals. Doesn’t go their way… no funding next time. New funding elsewhere, new campaign, new chance to get what they want done. Definitely gotta keep that stuff quiet. Better have the military take care of that.

They definitely use the type of training individuals must receive to have that sort of hush-hush mindset. I know this because my father wasn’t anyone special (outside of those who knew him well of course, to me he was very special indeed), he had no reason to not share what his duties were with me, or anyone for that matter, except for what he believed. He believed that his disclosure to unauthorized sources would undermine what he had spent half a lifetime protecting, in his way; this nation. In the end, what you have are people who believe they are doing what they do for the good of their nation, nay, the betterment of their nation. These are not the people who go around telling stories that would get people all worked up against their own government. Leave that to the people with orders to do so.

Misinformation has always been a great asset in times of war. Why not in times of peace. Or at the very least, non-war for America. How long has it been since America was at war any way? Not our military, America. The Japs bombed some island in the 40’s. That counted, I guess. I’m not discounting the tragedy of Pearl Harbor, I’m just saying it was a military base, not the Wal-Mart (yes, I know) they attacked. They really only bombed a military target. Not like they bombed Cleveland or what have you. So, when was it, huhn? Did I hear someone… in the back… No?

1812! That’s right. The freakin’ war of 1812. Nearly 200 years ago. Now just so you don’t think I’m an antinationalist or whatever, I’ll tell you why I think that is. Militaristic superiority over pretty much any other country on this planet. There. Get your Hooahh’s out. Certainly over the ones who are not our friends… today.

Boy, has this gotten long. Still reading? Good. Let’s get to the outside world. The talkers. Those who believe them. And what their angle is.

Start with the talkers. The Glenn Becks, the Mark Andersons, and so many others gaining in popularity on such a minute scale, in relation to the actual population, it hardly denotes relating. These guys will read something and then hear something and then tell someone and then all hell breaks loose… sorta. On that corner where they stand, shouting through a bullhorn, anyway.

Again, these guys are not special. Just guys. With mortgages and bills and kids and problems and bills and I think you get the point. Making you listen to them IS THEIR JOB. In this day and age, with the media the way it is, you have to “Go Big or Go Home”. That’s all that will catch your attention as a contrast to what the media is telling “actually” happened. Contrast… important word. If it weren’t for the contrast that they pursue, you might as well be watching Fox News. HAHAHAH…sorry, I laugh every time I use those words together.

It’s important that their market is the exact same market as the news corporations. Those are the people who actually seem to care about what is happening. Not enough to do anything of course, but they care. And if just one of them is inspired to check out a website or watch a documentary or receive a newsletter from any of these sources, all of the sudden they have all this information in front of them, created and made available to them by these same people who are just doing their job. But that person doesn’t see it that way. That person thinks, “Oh my god, this can’t be true. But look at all this writing, all these words that someone took the trouble to write or say, why would they do that if it weren’t true. Why waste that time and money. I better read more.”

This person, whomever they may be, is now caught up in this whole conspiracy thing, and they are excited about it. They have the skinny. You don’t even know, brother. They can clue you in to shit that sounds like the end of the world is coming and you now have a front row seat. Our disenfranchised youth in this country eat that stuff up like jellybeans. They have this feeling of knowledge over the “sheeple” that they’re now clued and if you’re not… psshh… you better go buy a clue. Better yet, they’ll clue you in themselves. Here check out this website, you gotta see this movie, go buy this guys book. In the end, these people just become walking, talking billboards for that conspiracy theory guys products.

Imagine the guy who first heard about electronic fuel injection going mainstream. Not the guy who made it happen… no, not him. The guy he told about it. That guy, if he was in any way an auto kind of guy, would have felt like he had the key to the universe, in some respect. Out there, telling people that carburetors were on the way out. Yeah, he must have felt he really had something. But what about those he told. I’m sure the responses to that information ran the gamut. But he wasn’t dissuaded. He knew he had something real.

I imagine it feels that way to someone who thinks they just had their eyes opened, too. But these aren’t facts people. It’s in the name. Conspiracy THEORY. Ask a scientist if theory equals fact. They will say no. Don’t bother asking. It’s a no.

Now, I’m not saying don’t ask questions. Do. In fact, ask all the questions that come to your head. Ask as many of them to as many as will hear them if you want. But be wary of where your answers come from. If it was my job to make you listen to me, you better believe this whole note would’ve been much more exciting and revealing. Like the news.
