Christmas Crafts: Make Gingerbread Angels with Golden Wings

Set your house and Christmas tree shining with the scent of baking gingerbread and shiny, golden wings Christmas craft. These angels are just beautiful and easy to make and any gingerbread recipe should make up ten beautiful 4 inch angels. And if you do not want to use gold leafing, you can decorate their wings with colored icing or even gold paste from a cake decorating store instead.

1. Mix the gingerbread dough and roll it out on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of about ¼ inches.

2. Cut out ten angels from a paper angel template or from a cookie cutter. Repeat to make ten angels

3. Line a baking tray with nonstick kitchen parchment and lay the gingerbread angels carefully on it. Bake at 375 degrees or 190 Celsius for 8 to 10 minutes until firm. And then cool on a wire rack.

4. If you are using old leaf, lightly whisk the white of an egg and paint it onto the angel’s wings with a fine paintbrush. Otherwise decorate the angel as desired.

5. For gold leafing, tear a sheet and its backing from a pad. Cut a piece the size of the angel’s wing and position it on the wing. Then simply rub the backing with the back of a spoon to apply the transfer.Now peel the backing off and repeat with the other wing.

6. To finish this Christmas craft, glue a gold ring to the back of the angel’s head. Tie a small bow to the top of the curtain ring with gold thread and hang from a long loop of gold thread.
